Remembering Fr. Leo 怀念张神父

Today is the mensiversary (one month) of the death of Fr. Leo Chang. May his soul rest in peace.

I have written a short sharing on Fr. Leo Chang as requested by the Kajang-based Herald correspondent. It was not published. I am sharing with you all.

Fr. Leo Chang was faithful to his vocation, church and community.

I knew Fr. Leo when he was transferred to Kajang as the Parish Priest in 1991. He was unconventional; his sermon was inspiring and more so, he taught me what Christian Spirituality is: to discern what is God’s will in everything I do.

He had an eventful life right from his junior seminary years until his ordination in Malaysia, then known as Malaya. This has shaped his outlook of life and his priestly ministry. He had the opportunity to put all his experiences and knowledge into practice when he was in Kajang. In his own words “My tenure in Kajang was my most fulfilling years”.

I was very happy to see him enjoying his retirement years. The young priests, from his immediate successor, Fr. Julian to the present Fr. William and Fr. George Harrison, all cared for him very much and always welcome him to Kajang.

He received good care from many concerned parishioners during his final term battling with pancreatic cancer.

He was a faithful servant of Christ and His Church and Fr Leo died in peace and in love.

今天是张学礼神父逝世一个月纪念。

张学礼神父对他的圣召 、教会及团体彻底忠诚。

我认识张神父是自他在1991被调派到加影圣家堂开始。他思想开明；他的道理非常精辟，但更重要的是他教导了我认识什么是基督徒的灵修：在任何事上，寻求天主的旨意。

他的一生，打从十二岁进入小修院开始，直到他在当时的马来亚晋铎成为神父，充满不平凡及动荡的体验。这对他后来人生观及神父的生涯，有着非常巨大的影响。他到了加影之后，就有机会把他的经验及知识，有个用武之地了。以他自己的话来形容：“加影是我司铎生涯中，最充实的一段岁月"。

我非常欣慰的看到张神父安享退休之年。加影教堂打从他手中接任的廖神父，到现在的威廉及赫神父，都非常的爱护及关怀他，也非常欢迎他到加影来。

在他面对胰脏癌的最后弥留时刻，他也得到许多关怀他的加影及外地教友及朋友的悉心照顾。

张神父是对耶稣及他的教会忠心的仆人。他在爱及平安中，安然逝世。

My priest 我的神父

Last night, our Assistant Parish Priest Rev. Fr. George Harrison gave a talk to the Chinese RCIA class on the Sacraments of Anointing and the Holy Order.

He gave a very detail talk with visual aid and role playing. And all in Mandarin.

Fr. George is one of the few Mandarin-speaking Indian priests in Peninsular Malaysia. He studied Chinese for two years in Taiwan. Besides English and Mandarin, he speaks Tamil and Bahasa Malaysia.


本堂的副主任赫神父 （Harrison) 在昨晚的华语成人慕道班 (RCIA)，主讲了[病人傅油]及[圣秩]圣事。

他讲的非常详细，并以图片及模拟角色来示范，让慕道者更了解圣事的程序。这一切都以华语进行。

赫神父是西马半岛数位讲流利华语的印度神父之一。他曾在台湾修读两年华文课程。除了英语及华语，他还说淡米尔语及马来语。

My priest 我的神父

Last night, our Assistant Parish Priest Rev. Fr. George Harrison gave a talk to the Chinese RCIA class on the Sacraments of Anointing and the Holy Order.

New plan 新计划

Cahaya Puri Holdings Sdn Bhd, a business company formed by the laity supported by the CDD for evangelisation through print media and audio visual, and Mustard Seeds Evangelisation Centre (MSE), a production outfit also supported by the CDD and run by the laity, have joined together for the project on the production and distribution of DVD produced by the Hong Kong Diocesan Audio Visual Unit.

We have signed an agreement with our Hong Kong counterpart and decided to produce four titles per year including stories on St. Paul the Apostle and St. Faustina.

Last night (Monday), we have a group discussion regarding the design, quantity and marketing plan to be launched soon in 2009. I am very happy to work with a group of enthusiastic and committed young people. They are also responsible for the successful promotion of Little Rock Bible Course throughout Malaysia, Brunei, Taiwan, Australia and China.

我们已经和该单位签署了合约，以授权方式，在本地制作。今年已经决定出产四个DVD，包括了圣保禄宗徒的生平事迹，和圣芳蒂娜的故事。

昨晚（星期一），我们讨论了关于设计 、产量及销售计划等事项，并决议在不久就会展开推介工作。我非常的高兴能够和这批充满干劲及热忱的年轻人一起工作。他们也是成功推动小磐石圣经课程到全马，汶莱、台湾、澳洲及中国的同一批人。

Fractured bones & broken nose 隔岸观火

The Senate President of New Era College in Kajang, Dr. Yap Sin Tian, who is also the Chairman of Dong Jiao Zhong was punched by a former student of the college during his speech at the Convocation 2008 at the New Era College yesterday. He sustained fractured cheek bone and bleeding nose. He was later sent by ambulance to Kajang Medcal Center for treatment.

Yap has been embroiled in a long-running spat with kua Kia Soong, the Principle of the New Era College whose contract expired on 31-12-2008.

This will be a black mark in the history of Chinese education and exposed the ugliness and seriousness of the on going "fight" between them.

董总主席叶新田被打，是华社的家庭悲剧。作为华社顶尖的人物，德高望重，受人尊敬，却被一位年轻人打的鼻梁歪，是各造人物好好思考的时候了。

我当然不赞同暴力，我强烈谴责暴力。这位打人的年轻人做的不对，应当以法律来处置。但在此同时，我们不要模糊焦点，那就是导致今天这个地步，这个场面的原因及有关人物。假如这年轻人该受到法律的制裁的话，那这批“误人子弟”“教坏子孙” 的长辈，也应该受到处罚和谴责。

我只是隔岸观火，知道的都是从新闻报导或道听途说而来。那天事发后，有听某些朋友说，叶新田在新院的纠纷中，很少发言，不知有意还是无意的，或者是策略性的保持低调。经过好久时间，终于等到过了十二月三十一号，是出面的时候了。这次上台说话，威风八面，但却是挂彩而归，难道是天意呗！而也有人说，常常发言的，说的最多的，应该是他的忠心副手邹寿汉，他忠心耿耿，处处维护主人，可说是最忠诚的波比，他应该代主人领受这一拳。

的确，邹寿汉常常语出惊人。就如他主子被打后，他唯恐天下不乱，马上就推出“阴谋”论，意图把这事件搞得更大，捞个本。

我只能衷心的希望大家能够从这启事件中，得到领悟，放下个人的或集团的利益，而以华教及华社的广大利益为依归，尽快的把这董总 、新院风波平息。够了！Enough is enough.

伊拉克有丢鞋的人，马来西亚有挥拳的人，是好汉还是枭雄，那得看看你是以什么心态及立场来煮酒论英雄了。
