Visit to Fr. Naden 探望纳登神父

Fr. Naden's friendship with Fr. Stephen Ng, Superior General of CDD dated back to decades ago when Fr. Stephen Ng was the Parish Priest of the Church of the Sacred Heart in Bentong, Pahang. Fr. Naden then was actively involved in the ministry for the Orang Asli (Aborigines) in the states of Pahang and Negri Sembilan.

About ten years ago, Fr. Naden settled on a piece of land owned by a Seremban parishioner couple to do poultry and agricultural farming. The income generated is used for aid to the Orang Asli.

Fr. Stephen Ng has left Malaysia for Taiwan about eight years ago to assume the post of Superior General of CDD. However, he would visit Fr. Naden whenever possible when he was back in Malaysia.

Yesterday, Fr. Stephen made a visit to Fr. Naden before going back to Taiwan on 3/1/09. Deacon Lawrence Ng and I were invited to come along. This was my first visit to Fr. Naden's sanctuary and my second meeting with him.

It was a piece of 5-acre farmland situated about 7 Kms from Simpang Pertang, Negri Sembilan, about 1 1/2 hours drive from Kajang. It was well maintained and planted with many fruit trees: Pandan Coconuts, Longans, Durians, Dragon fruits, Mangostines... There were altogether 5 fish ponds, with many ducks and chickens scattered around.

I have surprises when arrived. Firstly to discover that the land owner is my old acquaintance - Anna Wong of Seremban, a humble and kind lady. Second surprise was to meet Mary Chua from KL whom I knew since her schooling days.

I have the good fortune to meet them at the farm. Anna doesn't stay here but brought Mary and Pei Yi, also from Kuala Lumpur, to spend a quiet year-end holiday here. They cooked us a delicious lunch with materials from the land - wild boar meat，duck eggs and fresh vegetables.

















Our visit brought them fortune and "misfortune". For the past three days, Mary and Pei Yi were eyeing for the clusters of durian fruits to drop but no luck. On our arrival, three fruits dropped. We have a hearty durian feast... the flesh was thick and tasted fantastic!

Before we took leave, came lightning and thunderstorm. While Mary was trying to turn off her computer, lightning struck. She found power surging through her fingers....Ziiiiizziiiiiii.... Aiiiiiiiya....then on the other side of the kitchen, Anna noticed the power plug of the freezer caught fire..... three ladies ran into their room, jumped up to the bed.... the little dog tried to follow but was kicked out.......

Thank God, other than a little pain and numbness on Mary's finger, all were well and OK. These added a little drama to our visit and our joyful memory.

Fr. Naden was in good health although no longer as strong as before. He was very pleased with our visit. The 3 ladies continued their holidays until new year. Anna's husband will join them after work.

We left at 4:00pm after coffee while the TNB technician arrived to check on the power supply. Very efficient.

It was a wonderful last day of the year 2008. Thanks be to God!


纳登神父和黄进龙神父的交情，始自十多年前。当时黄神父是彭亨州文冬圣心堂的本堂神父，而纳登神父则在原住民服务事工，穿梭于彭亨及森美兰二州之间。

十年前，纳登神父定居在属于芙蓉一对教友夫妇的一块土地上，从事农耕及鸡禽饲养，其收入继续为扶助原住民之用。

几乎的同时，黄神父也前往台湾接任主徒会总会长的职位。不过，他每次因公或因私回到大马时，都尽量抽空去探访纳登神父。

昨天，黄神父决定在三号回台湾前，去拜访纳登神父，并邀请大华执事和我同行。这是大华执事和我的第一次到访纳登神父的“世外桃源”，也是我第二次和他见面。

那是一块五英亩的农业地，离开森美兰州的新邦普鲁顶（Simpang Pertang) 镇约七公里。这里环境优美，照顾良好，种满了许多果树，有香椰 、龙眼 、榴莲 、山竹 、 火龙果等，还有五个鱼塘，及饲养了许多鸡和鸭。这里可以说是鸟语花香，清翠怡眼，空气清新，令你心旷神怡。（不过还得小心别踏到鸡鸭粪 ：D ）

我来到后，发现了几个惊喜。第一，现在才知道这块地的主人，原来是芙蓉的相识，谦虚、良善的年娇（Anna) 姐妹。第二，见到了来自吉隆坡的蔡慧美。我从她读书的时候就认识她了。

我这趟很幸运的能够见到他们。年娇并不住在这里，她这次是带着慧美及也是来自吉隆坡的佩仪，来这里度过一个悠闲的年终假期。他们还特地的用这里找到的材料，煮了一顿美味的午餐招待我们 - 山猪肉，鸭蛋及新鲜蔬菜。

我们的到访，给他们带来一些幸运及（惊）“愕”运。

慧美和佩仪来了这里三天，每天都盯着榴莲树上挂满的果子，希望掉下来，可以嚐嚐新鲜的榴莲，但只得到空等。当我们到来时，马上就掉了三粒榴莲，而且都是肉厚味浓的良种。。。足够我们饱餐一顿。

在我们将要离开前，来了一场闪电交加的暴风雨。慧美赶紧要把她的电脑关上，就在此刻，她感觉到一股电流从她的手指涌了上来。。。。吱吱吱吱。。。。吱吱。。哎呀。。。同个时候，年娇发现厨房的冰箱电源插头着火。。。。妈妈呀！三个女人连忙“逃”进房间，跳到床上。。。小狗狗也尾随，但被踢开。。。。

感谢天主，除了慧美的手指有点痛及麻痹感觉，大家都无恙。这戏剧性的事件，添加了生活体验，也留在美好的回忆中。

纳登神父大体上健康状况还好，只是体力大不如前了。他非常高兴我们的到访。那三位女士继续了他们的假期，至到新年过后。年娇的丈夫将在放工后，才来会合他们。

我们在喝了咖啡后，大约在四点左右离开。离开时，刚好国家能源局的技工到了检查电路状况，非常的高效率！

这是2008年，美妙的最后一天。感谢天主！

Sudoku puzzle 数独游戏

My wife got a copy of Sudoku puzzle（see Wikipedia) as Christmas present from the children but I played it first.

It is interesting, needs concentration, patient and a lot of logical thinking. It is good exercise for the brain and delay possible Alzheimer's disease.


孩子给太太的圣诞礼物是一部“数独”（日文）数字拼图游戏书，而我则先拿来玩。这是一个很有趣的游戏，需要集中精神，耐心和逻辑思考。这可以运动头脑，延迟可能有的老人痴呆症。

Symposium 文字福传研讨会

In order to celebrate my birthday with my family and Parish Feast Day with my community, I have to miss the Symposium on 'Evangelisation through Print Media' organised by the CDD ( Disciple of the Lord) at the Villa Dominic at Genting Highlands from 26-12-09 to 29-12-2009. However, I was able to make it to the last session of the Symposium which was on plan & action.

I reached the venue at 9:00 am on 29-12-2009. There were 30 priests and laity participated in this Symposium. The presence and active participation of the Superior General of CDD, Rev. Fr. Stephen Ng (right) underscored the importance of print media and direction of the CDD in the new age evangelisation.

Today's sessions saw reduced number of priests whom had to take earlier leave due to their parish and pastoral commitment. However, I still have the opportunity to meet many new faces from Indonesia, Taiwan and Malaysia.

A final report of Plan & Action will be compiled and published within two weeks. All agreed that such symposium should be held annually at different location. Bali in Indonesia was proposed
subject to acceptance the Indonesian Provincial.

为了与家人共庆我的生日，及和团体同庆圣家堂区主保日，我只好放弃参加由主徒会主办的"文字福传研讨会"。这研讨会是从十二月二十六日至二十九日，假云顶教会拥有的多米额度假屋举行。不过，我还是有机会参加了研讨会的最后一天节目，主要是讨论计划及行动。

我在早上九时抵达研讨会场地。这届研讨会，总共有30 位神父及平信徒出席参与。主徒会总会长黄进龙神父的积极参与，显示了主徒会对这个新时代的文字福传使命的重视及将来走向。

今天是最后一天，有好多位参加的神父们，因堂区事务及牧灵工作，而提早离开，但我仍然有机会认识到许多来自印尼、台湾及本地的新脸孔参加者。

一份最后的计划及行动报告，将在两个星期后完成及公布。出席者都一致认同，这类的研讨会，应该每年、在不同的地点举行。明年举办地点提议在印尼的巴厘岛举行，但须获得该会省接纳。

我们有的是青春和活力

My Taichi member got me on the phone.

"Dai Lo (big brother), how can you said this place is big, clean and nice. This is a god-forsaken place. It is miserable, it is a dead roll cell! "

She was very emotional. She was referring to the old folks home that one of our Taichi members was sent to by her children.

Mdm M is 80 years old. She has many children and grandchildren but preferred to stay on her own. She is ashmatic and has frequent dizzy spell, otherwise she is well enough to look after herself. Recently her condition got worse and the children decided to send her into the old folks home "temporary" and will take her home once she got better. According to one of her children, this is the best place they have chosen.

I have visited her before Christmas.

Feast Day 主保日

I loathe Chinese dinner. Last night's wedding dinner started late and ended late. With due respect, it was a great grand dinner at a five-star hotel but wasted a lot of time waiting... We left the house at 6:20 pm for the dinner and reached home well past 12:30 am.

But that did not deter us from getting up early this morning to attend our Holy Family Feast Day celebrations. The Holy Eucharist was con-celebrated by seven priests followed by Holy Family statue procession outside the church compound. The procession went out using the main exit at Jln Bukit, round the shops at Lot 10 and returned by the main gate at Jln Gereja. This was the longest journey feast day procession has ever taken.

In his sermon, Fr. Simon Lebroy challenged us "to be different". As Catholic, we must not succumb to the sweet words of consumerism but listen and respond positively to the Words of Jesus.

It was a beautiful celebration.











我很害怕参加华人婚宴。昨晚的宴会很迟才开始，所以也很迟才结束。老实说，那是在五星级酒店举行的宴会，当然是非常的豪华及排场，但浪费了很多时间等待。我们在傍晚六时二十分出发赴宴，回到家时，已是过了午夜十二时半了。

但这没有影响我们一早起来参加今天圣家主保日的庆典。主保日弥撒由七位神父共祭，然后圣家态像游行。游行队伍从Jln Bukit 的大门出发，环绕 Lot 10 的商业区一圈，然后由 Jln Gereja 的大门回来。这是主保日采用的最长的游行路线。

布道的主讲神师 Simon Lebroy 神父在证道时，挑战身为天主教徒的我们，要敢于“与众不同”。我们不应该受外面世俗消费主义的甜言蜜语诱骗，而应该听从耶稣的教导，作出积极的回应。

这是一个非常成功的主保日庆祝。

团圆

这是一篇由溪水信女执笔，非常有意思及优美照片的帖子，自『为天堂的灵魂』部落格转载。冬至虽过，但其意义却是长青隽永，就如帖子里说的：“只要人在家园，只要团圆，随时可吃汤圆！”。

冬至。我们要庆祝，为承传文化，为坚持传统，更为了保住节日的精神！

冬至，天主教徒该庆祝吗？
当然，它是华人传统节日，就好像春节。
有些人还是不明，那我只好说：虽然我是天主教徒，但它并不能改变我是华人的事实，我还是华人，我会做个华人天主教徒，我必须达到活出华人传统、文化与天主教的圆融。
冬至就是一个很好的传统节日帮助我做个更好的教徒。

耶稣本身也是生活于一个传统、文化与民族里。他并非在空无所有里诞生。
耶稣在世时同样的用当代人的生活来解释天国的奥秘。他更用了日常生活的人、事、物比喻天国。
耶稣也注重桌上的神学，餐桌上的交流(Table Fellowship)与团聚。

对于冬至，只知道是日短夜长。
认识冬至，家人团圆。
冬至，家人一起搓汤圆。
冬至，并不一定有冬天到来，只要家人可以相聚，搓汤圆，吃汤圆，就是冬至。
汤圆也并不一定要有五颜六色，也无需含有很多馅料。
汤圆也可以是粉红色与白色，清淡优雅，就像我们潮州人的汤圆。

今天是今年第四次吃汤圆：
第一次，她想家，我偷偷搓汤圆给她吃，她很感动。
第二次，我想家，我们决定搓汤圆来吃。大家很开心。
第三次，我们想吃汤圆，就搓汤圆吃了。
第四次，是冬至，我们没有搓汤圆，是邻居送来的，只是吃了汤圆汤里的龙眼、莲子、红枣......还有其他东西，最后才捞到汤圆。就是不一样家乡的汤圆口味，缺少了清淡优雅。

记得小时后，每当家有喜事，祖母或外婆或妈妈就会准备汤圆，要每一个人吃一碗。
农历新年初一，妈妈在除夕夜所做的最后一件事是要我们搓汤圆，她煮锅糖水，加入大片老姜，香叶及冰糖或蜜糖，熬出香甜的甜姜水，待冷却，明天清晨烫了汤圆倒入甜姜水里。

我总是喜欢在旁边看着汤圆熟时，一粒粒漂浮在热水上，妈妈就会捞起，倒入甜姜水里。我们醒来就要我们吃汤圆。

家里有娶、嫁，前夕必也要搓汤圆。印象里是我小姨出嫁前夕，外公和外婆开始搓了4粒很大的汤圆，置放在饭桌的4个角，然后全家人开始搓汤圆，外公外婆好像说了很多好话，好像在吟诗，我也不记得了。
如今，为了省事，妈妈只是煮大粒的Sago来替代汤圆，因为，传统汤圆已不受年轻人欢迎了。

几年前从一位老婆婆那里学到做汤圆的用料：
4人份

糯米粉：200克
粘米粉：100克
砂糖：1汤匙
盐：半茶匙

把以上用料参好，加入清水直到可以搓。
搓了白色汤圆，剩下3分1才随意加入喜欢的颜色，才不会过于鲜艳，且少用染料。
不必把汤圆搓隔夜，搓了马上煮，口感更好，也不会有粉未。

冬至，不仅仅是吃汤圆！
汤圆，不仅仅是在冬至时吃！
只要人在家园，只要团圆，随时可吃汤圆！
圆：是完整、无缺、包容、接纳......
圆：是人可以在同一屋檐下！

冬至。我们要庆祝，为承传文化，为坚持传统，更为了保住节日的精神！

冬至，天主教徒该庆祝吗？
当然，它是华人传统节日，就好像春节。
有些人还是不明，那我只好说：虽然我是天主教徒，但它并不能改变我是华人的事实，我还是华人，我会做个华人天主教徒，我必须达到活出华人传统、文化与天主教的圆融。
冬至就是一个很好的传统节日帮助我做个更好的教徒。

耶稣本身也是生活于一个传统、文化与民族里。他并非在空无所有里诞生。
耶稣在世时同样的用当代人的生活来解释天国的奥秘。他更用了日常生活的人、事、物比喻天国。
耶稣也注重桌上的神学，餐桌上的交流(Table Fellowship)与团聚。

对于冬至，只知道是日短夜长。
认识冬至，家人团圆。
冬至，家人一起搓汤圆。
冬至，并不一定有冬天到来，只要家人可以相聚，搓汤圆，吃汤圆，就是冬至。
汤圆也并不一定要有五颜六色，也无需含有很多馅料。
汤圆也可以是粉红色与白色，清淡优雅，就像我们潮州人的汤圆。

今天是今年第四次吃汤圆：
第一次，她想家，我偷偷搓汤圆给她吃，她很感动。
第二次，我想家，我们决定搓汤圆来吃。大家很开心。
第三次，我们想吃汤圆，就搓汤圆吃了。

My birthday 我的生日

Today is my birthday.

No big celebration, because we have celebrated the birth of Jesus yesterday.

No big feast, we have eaten too much. Christmas Eve dinner. Menu : turkey, chicken, pig wrapped in blanket.....

Then dinner invitation to friend's house on Christmas....

This evening attended a pre-wedding buffet at my friend's house. Her son is getting married tomorrow follow by a grand wedding dinner in the evening.

Too much of eating.

My children prepared "birthday cake" for me tonight， two delicious muffin with a big candle...

But I have marked my birthday in the afternoon by washing my car, a physical chore to remind myself to be grateful to God that I am healthy, active and enjoying life, especially physical activities.

How old am I ? feeling not a day older than 50!

没有大事庆祝，因为昨天刚庆祝了耶稣的生日。

没有大餐庆祝，因为我们吃的太多。圣诞前夕吃了个家庭大餐。 菜单： 烤火鸡，大肥鸡，被单包猪猪。。。。。

圣诞节晚上受邀到朋友家欢庆圣诞晚餐。

今晚去了朋友家，参加他儿子结婚前自由晚餐。明天还有正式的隆重婚宴。

太多的餐食了。

所以，孩子今晚准备了简单的生日“蛋糕”， 两个 muffin 加上一支大蜡烛。

不过，我在今天下午以洗车来标志我的生日。我以这项劳力工作，提醒自己要感恩我现在所拥有的健康，活力及享受生活，特别是一些体力的活动。

我今年几岁了？ 感觉上，还未老过五十岁 !
